listed SEMICON names that make or design chips: CG Power, Kaynes, MosChip
Only 3 SEMICON India stocks make or design chips themselves
SEMICON India 2026 ran in Delhi from 17 to 19 September. On day 1, the government announced Semicon 2.0, a ₹1,27,500 crore plan across 6 areas, with chip design at the centre. It wants 200 chip-design companies, up from about 105, and more than 1 lakh trained technicians. Day 2 brought 25 partnerships.
Chip stocks rose on the opening day, but not all have the same exposure to semiconductors.
CG Power has exposure through CG Semi, whose Sanand chip packaging and testing plant started commercial production in July and can handle 300 million units a year at peak. Kaynes Technology has Kaynes Semicon, which is also building a chip packaging business. MosChip is the direct chip-design play, working on chip design, semiconductor IP and silicon engineering.
The rest is more indirect. Dixon and Syrma SGS make electronics that use chips. Tata Technologies, Tata Elxsi and Tejas Networks have engineering and technology exposure. The big Tata semiconductor announcements at SEMICON came from Tata Electronics, which is unlisted. ASM Technologies provides engineering services to semiconductor companies.
The market seems to care less about who showed up at SEMICON and more about where each company actually sits in the semiconductor value chain.
